Tony Jennings

A South African by birth CEO of Budweiser Budvar UK, Tony Jennings’ first contact with Europe was an assignment from SAB (now SABMiller) to look after the company’s newly acquired brewing business in Romania, where he was instrumental in reviving much neglected national brands.  Family matters took him back to South Africa and a stint in the telecoms industry but the lure of both Europe and the drinks industry proved too strong and he joined Budvar UK in 2004.

Budweiser Budvar UK
The very existence of a wholly owned subsidiary of the Budvar brewery in the UK demonstrates the importance of Budvar’s beers on the UK drinks scene. This reflects the fact that more and more British beer drinkers are becoming better educated about what they drink and like to know where their beer comes from and what it is made of.
With its impeccable provenance Budvar ticks all the boxes for these newly enlightened enthusiasts. The only truly all Czech brewery on the international stage it holds fast to traditional brewing methods as the keeper of the Czech brewing flame should. This includes producing only at its one brewery in Southern Bohemia, and never under licence, using only the finest local materials in the process and then lagering naturally for not less than 90 days (other breweries think 30 is good).
In fact the beer is brewed more or less on the same time line as it was in 1895. It is this “back to the future” quality that is ensuring that Budvar is every bit as much about tomorrow as it is about today.
