KAWASAKI’S ROSE

CBCC presents Jan Hrebejk's film at The New Czech Cinema Festival in London



The Czech British Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the Czech Centre in London cordially invited the CBCC members to KAWASAKI’S ROSE (Jan Hrebejk's, Czech Republic, 100', 2009), the story of a famous dissident.

The event will take place on Saturday 13 November 2010 in Riverside Studios in London. A drink & canapé reception will be held at the Riverside Bar to celebrate the film screening at The New Czech Cinema Festival.

Well respected university professor Pavel Josek is at the peak of his career with adoring wife and daughter and due to receive a state honour for his dissident past. But as a TV documentary starts to focus on him, new facts come to life painting a different picture. Comparable to The Lives of Others, Hřebejks gripping study of family secrets, betrayal and reconciliation in the post-Comunist era tackles the subject of Czechs coming to terms with their past. Brilliantly paced and performed, this is one of 2010s must sees.
