60 seconds with...Tomas Kaloc, CBCC Event Manager

From his favourite destination, beloved food to volunteering and his work for the CBCC, we are bringing you a quick portrait of one of our ExCo members with this rapid-fire interview format.

If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?

Madagascar.

What's your favourite food?

Anything Italian.

Do you have a favourite book/movie?

Whiplash.

What does a perfect day look like?

Enjoying my time with the people I love, eating good food, and soaking up the amazing weather outside.

What part of your work or volunteering do you genuinely enjoy?

One of the best moments for me was volunteering for children during work hours — we made toys and handed them out ourselves. Seeing how grateful and happy they were made it special.

Is there something at CBCC that’s made you proud or stuck with you?

I enjoy slowly but surely bringing together the Czech community across the UK, creating opportunities for people to connect and get to know each other. Whether it’s an annual dinner, an embassy event, or a panel on AI, it feels good to help people make connections and build relationships for the future.

How do you usually unwind or reset after a long day?

It’s either the gym or having a pint with friends - no balance whatsoever.

More information about Tom and his career can be found on our Executive Committee page.
